About Eric Knight, OD
Undergraduate Education: University Of Wisconsin Madison. Optometry School: Illinois College of Optometry. I am part of International Vision and we run an eye clinic on the island of Ile-a-Vache, Haiti. We were the first eye care professionals in history to provide eye care, from refractions to cataract surgery, to the approximately 17,000 residents of the island. I provide all the medical eye care where glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness and affects between 20-25% of the population. I have completed 20 Ironman triathlons, 2 of which were in the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. I have also completed well over 100 half Ironman triathlons, dozens of marathons, including the Boston marathon and hundreds of other races, many with my wife. I also spend a considerable amount of time when I am not in Haiti, getting medications and surgical and non-surgical supplies for our clinic in Haiti. For instance, during each visit, we go through a minimum of 1500 bottles of Prostaglandin Analogues, hundreds of secondary and tertiary glaucoma medications and hundreds of intraocular implants, both anterior and posterior chamber.
