About Mackenzie Egan, OD
Mackenzie Egan, O.D., graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in genetics. In 2016, she graduated as co-valedictorian from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, earning her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her graduate education, Dr. Egan completed internships in ocular disease and low vision at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in White River Junction, VT, and West Haven, CT. She also completed a primary eye care rotation in Sartell, MN, and a pediatric eye care internship in Boston.
Following graduation, Dr. Egan spent a year in primary eye care before transitioning to LASIK and PRK corneal refractive surgery for 4 years, where she served as a clinical director. After the 2017 solar eclipse, the local news in New Haven, CT, interviewed Dr. Egan on the potential dangers of viewing the eclipse without appropriate precautions. In 2020, she began collaborating with age-related macular degeneration research studies based in Ohio and shortly after rejoined primary eye care and Colorado Eye Center. She likes educating her patients about their eyes and ways to protect their vision.
Dr. Egan lives in Arvada, CO, with her husband, Daniel. She enjoys gardening and hiking.
