About Elizabeth Somers, OD

Dr. Ellie Somers grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2016. She earned her Doctor of Optometry at Illinois College of Optometry in 2020. She also received additional training at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, Froedtert, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Jorgenson Schulz and Associates Eyecare Center. Since starting her career as an optometrist, she has practiced in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona. She serves as a board member for the Southern Arizona Optometric Society. In her free time, Dr. Somers enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her husband and great Dane.

Blake Bender, OD

About Blake Bender, OD

I graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, IA, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Minor in History. I graduated from the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, TX. I am NBEO certified, and my hobbies include golf, weight lifting, biking, hiking, and spending time with my two dogs!

Robert Levine, OD

About Robert Levine, OD

Dr. Robert Levine graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1986. He started practicing in Libertyville in 1987 and added his second office location in Lake Zurich in 2001. He specializes in fitting contact lenses for many eye conditions, including difficult cases like Keratoconus, Dry Eye Syndrome, Multifocal/Bifocal, Astigmatism, and post-surgical LASIK and PRK patients. He is also one of the only doctors in the Libertyville and Lake Zurich areas with certification to work with Scleral and large-diameter lenses, including the new multifocal scleral lenses. Dr. Levine has a special interest in Vision Shaping (Corneal Reshaping/Orthokeratology). He is the area leader in this procedure and has been treating adults and children since 1989. Vision Shaping is the overnight method of gently reshaping the cornea of the eye without surgery to improve vision and eliminate the need for daytime contact lenses and glasses. Vision Shaping has also been shown to slow down and often stop the progression of nearsightedness. He is a certified lens designer/fitter for Wave Custom Lenses, CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) and VST (Vision Shaping Treatment). Dr. Levine also has an extensive background with LASIK/PRK and corrective surgeries and currently serves as Medical Director for Qualsight LASIK, Inc. Dr. Levine is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), as well as a member of the Illinois Optometric Association. Dr. Levine also knows sign language and treats many deaf and hard of hearing patients.

Adia McDuffey, OD

About Adia McDuffey, OD

Dr. McDuffey grew up as an Army brat, traveling extensively with her family. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the College of William and Mary, followed by a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Mississippi College. Dr. McDuffey then pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. During her time there, she served as the President of the Student VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), where she planned and participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Panama. She was also the Student Liaison for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. In recognition of her dedication, she received the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and was direct commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army, serving in optometry as well as in Health Services Administration. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. McDuffey enjoys taking walks with her dog, exploring local coffee shops, and traveling to new destinations.

Malcolm Hutchins, OD

About Malcolm Hutchins, OD

I graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering. After graduation I joined the engineering department of a Fortune 100 company and began working in the area of data and voice communications. I returned to school in 1988 and received a doctorate in optometry from the prestigious Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where I was named president of the National Optometric Honor Society for three years. I received additional training at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland and Walter Reed Medial Center in Washington, D.C. I am trained in advanced laser and surgical procedures of the eye. I am married and have four grown children. When not at the office I enjoy spending time with my wife, Sandra. I also enjoy trout fishing on the White River.

Lindsay Greiten, OD

About Lindsay Greiten, OD

Dr. Lindsay Greiten grew up in Germantown, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse where she double majored, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Biology with a Biomedical concentration. Upon graduation, Dr. Greiten spent time working as an optical lab manager, optician, and optical retail sales manager to gain a better understanding of the multifaceted optical industry. She then completed her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry where she graduated on the Dean’s List. Here she was a leader in several organizations including Volunteer Optometric Society for Humanity, Beta Sigma Kappa, and served as a Student Ambassador. While in school, she had the opportunity to volunteer on a medical mission trip to Honduras to provide eye care and eye wear to those in need. Throughout her academic career, she has had extensive training from some of the pioneers in her field and has gained expertise in all aspects of primary care optometry including pediatrics, low vision, and surgical co-management. During her four years of optometry school she worked at a progressive optometry practice which allowed her to sharpen her clinical skills. Her professional interests include contact lenses and ocular disease. Dr. Greiten is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Arizona Optometric Association, and the Southern Arizona Optometric Society. Dr. Greiten prides herself on ensuring patient satisfaction with a friendly atmosphere, and strives to leave patients feeling well taken care of with a better understanding of their ocular health. In her free time, Dr. Greiten enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, sand volleyball, and spending time with her husband, Jacob and two young puppies.

Alexis Romero, OD

About Alexis Romero, OD

Dr. Alexis Romero was born and raised in Douglas, Arizona. After graduation from high school, she moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology with a minor in Business Administration. Dr. Romero began work as an ophthalmic technician while applying to optometry school. She completed her Doctorate of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. While in school, Dr. Romero obtained extensive training and experience in primary care, contact lenses, pediatrics, ocular disease, and surgical co-management. Upon graduation from WesternU, she was happy to return to Southern Arizona. She is excited about working at Arizona Primary Eye Care where she is able to provide quality patient care to the residents in her hometown of Douglas as well as those in her favorite college town of Tucson. Dr. Romero is passionate about eye care and is a member of the American Optometric Association, Arizona Optometric Association, and the Southern Arizona Optometric Society. In her free time, Dr. Romero enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing tennis, and watching and attending sporting events.

Kelly Keith, OD

About Kelly Keith, OD

Dr. Keith was born and raised on the Navajo and Hopi native American reservations in northern Arizona. After finishing high school, she went on to attend the University of Arizona. Dr. Keith received her Bachelor of Health Science degree in physiology with a minor in anthropology. She also worked as an optometric technician while attending university. Dr. Keith completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at Midwestern University of Health Sciences in Glendale, Arizona, graduating summa cum laude. While in school, she attended externships that provided extensive training and experience in primary eye care, diabetic eye care, management of macular degeneration and glaucoma, and surgical co-management. After finishing optometry school, Dr. Keith returned to Tucson to work for a corporate optometry clinic and was happy to join Arizona Primary Eye Care in March of 2022. Dr. Keith enjoys getting to know her patients and strives to provide compassionate and comprehensive eye care in a friendly and comfortable environment. In her free time, Dr. Keith enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, camping, and traveling.

Cheryl Schmitt, OD

About Cheryl Schmitt, OD

Dr. Cheryl Schmitt is an Arizona native, born and raised the daughter and granddaughter of two exceptional Optometrists. She is passionate about continuing their legacies in providing Optometric care and has found true joy in the practice of eye care herself. Having been in practice for almost 20 years, she welcomes the opportunity to use her expertise and experience in the care of your eyes. Dr. Schmitt is a graduate of the University of Arizona and received her Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University. She is active in her chosen profession with service on the local, state, and national levels. She is the past president of the Arizona Optometric Association and currently serves as a board member of its charitable foundation. Although essential to be active in one’s profession, Dr. Schmitt knows there is more to life than career alone! In addition to her love of her practice and patients, Dr. Schmitt is a devoted Arizona Athletics fan. She and her family enjoy attending games to support their beloved Wildcats. She believes there is no entertainment venue as magical as McKale Center! Dr. Schmitt enjoys an active, family-focused lifestyle. One of her favorite parts of being an Optometrist is building a relationship with her patients and being given the privilege of learning about their interests as well!

Stephanie Hilde, OD

About Stephanie Hilde, OD

Dr. Stephanie Hilde is a doctor at Arizona Primary Eye Care and strives to provide high quality, evidence-based, and compassionate eye care. She was born and raised in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Dr. Hilde then went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in biochemistry from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. While in college, she met her husband, Casey. They enjoy walking their dog, biking and hiking together. Dr. Hilde then moved to Phoenix, Arizona to continue her optometric education at Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. Dr. Hilde joined Arizona Primary Eye Care in September of 2019 after completing her degree from Midwestern University where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and helped train other students as a teaching assistant. Dr. Hilde attended externships where her training focused on cataract and refractive surgery co-management, diabetic co-management, vision therapy, pediatrics, and specialty contact lenses. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Arizona Optometric Association, the Southern Arizona Optometric Society, and the Scleral Lens Education Society. Dr. Hilde’s professional interests include specialty contact lenses, keratoconus, diabetic co-management, cataract surgery co-management, pediatric eye exams, and treating eye infections.
