Richard Hawley, OD

About Richard Hawley, OD

Dr. Hawley is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has over 25 years of experience in optometry, including 8 years on the State Board of Optometry. He has a special interest in glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, pediatric myopia management, and orthokeratology. He has experience prescribing rigid gas-permeable and soft contact lenses for a wide range of vision problems. Dr. Hawley enjoys cycling and spending time with family. He has enjoyed being involved with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, having served as a doctor providing care to patients in underserved areas during over 11 eye care mission trips to Central America.

Sophia Johnson, OD

About Sophia Johnson, OD

Dr. Sophia Johnson is a medical optometrist who earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Spanish from The College of New Jersey. She went on to receive both her Master of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York. Dr. Johnson provides comprehensive eye exams for children and adults and is highly trained in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, dry eye, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma evaluations, contact lens fittings, and pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery patients. She is also experienced in managing red eyes, eye infections, foreign body removal, and urgent eye care visits. With a special interest in digital eye strain and ocular surface disease, Dr. Johnson’s research for which she is a published first author with the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), has focused on how taking breaks during screen use can improve symptoms and support long-term visual comfort. Her commitment to the field extends into professional leadership; she currently serves as the Co-Student Director for the National Optometric Association and is a Board Member for the SUNY College of Optometry Alumni Association. Dr. Johnson has been recognized for her leadership and academic excellence as a two-time recipient of the Marvin R. Poston Leadership Award and SUNY Scholarship award. Outside of the office, she enjoys serving her local church , mentoring young adults, traveling, watching sci-fi shows and movies, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Brittany Mohning, OD

About Brittany Mohning, OD

Dr. Brittany Mohning was born in Stuttgart, Germany, and raised in Chandler, Arizona. She graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry. Throughout optometry school, Dr. Mohning was actively involved in several professional organizations and held leadership roles in her school’s Private Practice Club, Contact Lens Club, and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She gained valuable clinical experience through externships at MyEyeDr in Raleigh, North Carolina; Dynamic Center for Vision Therapy in Aurora, Illinois; the Midwestern University Eye Institute in Downers Grove, Illinois; and the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Mohning completed an ocular disease residency at the VA Phoenix Health Care System. During her residency, she received advanced training in the diagnosis and management of complex eye conditions, with a particular focus on glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Mohning is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Arizona Optometric Association. She is dedicated to providing personalized patient-centered and evidence-based care to help improve each patient’s vision and overall quality of life. Outside of the office, Dr. Mohning enjoys spending time with her family and their mini goldendoodle puppy.

Alexander Azimi, OD

About Alexander Azimi, OD

Dr. Alexander Azimi earned his Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Medical Sciences from Western University in Canada, before attending Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2024 with Honors. During his studies, he was recognized for his academic achievement, graduating high school in 2016 with a 97% average, receiving scholarships from top-tier universities, and maintaining honors throughout Undergraduate school. He was a Member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and appeared on the Dean’s Honor Lists and Chancellor’s Lists throughout Optometry school. Dr. Azimi specializes in comprehensive eye exams and in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye diseases, and is eager to see a variety of patients, helping each feel confident in their vision and overall eye health. When he’s not in the office helping patients, you can find Dr. Azimi making the most of Florida’s beautiful beaches! He enjoys meeting new people, playing sports, and following his favorite sports like hockey, tennis, and soccer.

Ellery Isaac, OD

About Ellery Isaac, OD

Dr. Isaac was born and raised in L’Anse, Michigan, located on the shores of Lake Superior. In her senior year of high school, she fell in love with optometry after being prescribed contact lenses for the first time. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ferris State University. Continuing to graduate with distinction from The Michigan College of Optometry. Throughout Optometry school, she completed in-depth training in low vision, specialty contact lens fittings, and ocular disease. Her clinical disease training was done at the Battle Creek Veterans Association Hospital, where she became confident in managing glaucoma. She believes staying involved and supporting her profession is very important and is a current member of the American Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association. She frequently reads, studies, and attends optometric conferences around the country to stay up to date with research to ensure she is providing top-quality eye care to her patients. Dr. Isaac strives to give her patients clear, comfortable vision by providing comprehensive eye exams for all ages. She specializes in treating chronic dry eye based on each individual patient's symptoms and lifestyle. She also fits a variety of specialty contact lenses, including orthokeratology, to help manage myopia in children, and scleral lenses for severe dry eye and keratoconus. She uses her knowledge and state-of-the-art technology to diagnose glaucoma and develop a management plan tailored to each patient. She loves calling metro Detroit home, and outside of the office, Dr. Isaac enjoys running with her dog Turner, cooking, and traveling with her husband, Chris.

Patricia Poma, OD

About Patricia Poma, OD

Dr. Patricia Poma is a Michigan native who received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While an undergraduate student, she spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. She also worked at the Kellogg Eye Center doing genetic research on retinitis pigmentosa, a devastating disease that may lead to blindness. While attending the Ohio State University’s College of Optometry in Columbus, OH, Dr. Poma was honored to work with veterans at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Poma was selected as the sole recipient of the Eschenbach Low Vision Award. Dr. Poma earned her post-doctorate fellowship in pediatric visual development (FOVDR) in 2010. She particularly enjoys working with children, helping them become successful students through vision therapy. She works hard to identify and treat binocular vision dysfunction, including, but not limited to, prescribing prism. She also helps treat visual dysfunctions that occur due to concussions, TBI, and vertigo. Dr. Poma has a real gift for making every child feel comfortable during their eye exam. She is an international speaker and key opinion leader/consultant for Johnson and Johnson, Neurolens, PECAA, and MD Elite, teaching doctors across the country about the latest innovations in eye care, including dry eye, binocular dysfunction, and contact lenses. She spends a lot of her time mentoring other optometrists and students in both communication skills and practice development. Dr. Poma has been the principal investigator in contact lens clinical trials for Johnson and Johnson, Bausch & Lomb, and Alcon Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Poma is fluent in Italian and relatively articulate in Spanish. She is happily married and enjoys time with her two sons. She enjoys traveling to Italy to visit family and is passionate about holistic health, fitness, and wellness.

Michele Maxwell, OD

About Michele Maxwell, OD

Dr. Michele Maxwell earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry and holds a B.A. in Geography/Cartography from the University of Maryland. With over two decades of experience in private practice and university health center settings, she brings a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to patient care. In her previous career, Dr. Maxwell spent several years working in geographic information systems at UPS during the early days of GIS technology, and later did thematic mapping for The Washington Post. Eventually sitting on her sunglasses in her car one fateful afternoon she found herself in optometry school doing what she loves today.
