About Katherine Coffey, OD

Dr. Coffey founded Coffey Eye Care in 1992 and expanded the practice notably until partnering with MyEyeDr in 2020. She resides in Quincy and is a Dorchester native who attended Msgr. Ryan Memorial High School. She is a proud member of OFD and is a history buff, and loves traveling. Besides maintaining her own practice, she previously held appointments as adjunct faculty at the New England College of Optometry and staff optometrist at the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is a past president of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. She previously served on the Board of Trustees of the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Coffey sees patients of all ages with a special interest in contact lenses. She believes in patient education as a foundation to patient care (ask as many questions as you wish!). Professional Achievements and Associations: American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, and Birmingham Area Optometric Society. The reason I became an optometrist is: Because when I was younger my dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and the diagnosis was initiated by his optometrist. That's when I realized that optometry is more than glasses and contacts. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Finding the best solution for their visual needs. In my spare time, I enjoy: Spending time with my family and friends, hiking/being outdoors with my goldendoodle, Gryff, traveling domestically and internationally, and attending sporting events- specifically cheering on the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and all Georgia Southern athletics.

Dr. Azaleea, a highly skilled optometrist and dry eye specialist, was born in Romania and immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. She graduated from the University of California - Davis with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Italian. Dr. Azaleea earned her doctorate in optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2018. During her time at ICO, Dr. Azaleea trained in various practice settings, with a strong focus on medical optometry. She received high-level medical optometry training at the Hershel Williams VA, where she gained extensive experience in managing complex eye conditions. She also completed clinical rotations at the Illinois Eye Institute, Rosenbloom Center on Vision and Aging, and Cascade Vision Center. Her training at the Rosenbloom Center on Vision and Aging and Cascade Vision Center puts her in a unique position to care for the aging population and manage age-related eye conditions, such as cataract surgery, dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetes, and age-related macular degeneration. Through her studies, Dr. Azaleea developed a passion for specialty contact lenses, dry eye treatment, and ocular disease management. She is committed to providing comprehensive and individualized eye care to all her patients. Dr. Azaleea is also actively involved in myopia management, working at a state-of-the-art myopia control clinic that utilizes the latest technologies to protect and enhance the vision of young patients. Residing in Chicago, Dr. Azaleea enjoys spending her free time outdoors, exploring different parks around the city, discovering new coffee shops, and trying new restaurants.
