The reason I became an optometrist is: I grew up with vision issues since childhood and knew since childhood that I wanted to help others that have vision challenges as well. I truly believe that vision is a most valuable sense and want to do what I can to teach people to optimize their visual system to improve performance in life. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Knowing that I have been able to make even a small difference in their quality of life. I love seeing patients through all stages of life and seeing families as they grow. I love the relationships I have developed with my patients over the years. In my spare time, I enjoy: I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, yoga, and walking and spending time in nature.

Kilimanjaro – 19,340 feet. As a lifetime runner I’ve had the opportunity to achieve completing eight fifty plus mile runs (you can always do more than you think you can do), twelve 50K runs and numerous marathons. Still running the beautiful trails in the Augusta area, abet much slower and shorter distances.

Dr. Diana Ries received her Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She went on to attend Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her four years of Optometry school, Dr. Ries completed internships at Katzen Eye Group in Baltimore, Maryland and William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affair Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. She performed rotations in ocular disease, pediatrics, vision therapy, geriatrics, and contact lens. Currently, Dr. Ries practices primary care Optometry, taking special interest in contact lens and ocular pathology. She co-manages post-operative cataract surgery and refractive surgery. She is a Board Certified Therapeutics & Glaucoma Optometrist. She has gained valuable knowledge working in a multitude of settings from private practice to veteran medical centers. She spends quality time with patients addressing all their eye care needs and questions. Dr. Ries resides in Exton, Pennsylvania with her husband, Brian, and two dogs where she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

The reason I became an optometrist is: to make a difference in someone's life, even if it is a small difference. I have been on two mission trips to Honduras and volunteer at local vision screenings. I hope to keep using my skills to keep making these small differences locally and around the world where people are in need. My favorite part of helping my patients is: seeing the look on their faces when they appreciate how much better they feel after solving an eye problem and how much better they can see with their new glasses or contacts. In my spare time, I enjoy: doing arts and crafts, hanging out with friends and family, and traveling around the world.
