About James Maul, OD

Dr. James Maul earned his undergraduate Engineering degree at The Ohio State University and then continued on to The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Graduating in 1982, he attained membership in Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Maul has taken an active role in community activities. Through membership in Lions and VOSH, he continues to help facilitate much needed vision care for the underprivileged, both in Norwalk and in Nicaragua. In addition to practicing primary eyecare, Dr. Jim has a particular interest in treating and educating patients dealing with diabetes and glaucoma. He has had two articles published in professional journals and is dedicated to bringing the latest technology and research available to his patients. Dr. Maul is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and is a past governor of the North Central Optometric Association.

The reason I became an optometrist is: the instant gratification of positively impacting a patient's life by something as simple as prescribing an eyeglasses prescription. My favorite part of helping my patients is: taking time to listen to their needs or concerns and improving not only their eyesight but their quality of life as well. In my spare time, I enjoy: spin and barre fitness classes and cooking plant-based meals.

The reason I became an optometrist is: because I'm near-sighted myself, so from an early age I knew the importance of having my eyes checked regularly. My favorite part of helping my patients is: using my skills and knowledge to explain how their eyes are doing vision and health wise in a way that is easy for them to understand :) In my spare time, I enjoy: Spending time with my husband and my husky, Czar. I also enjoy traveling and finding the best pizza spots!
