Thomas Vaxmonsky, OD

About Thomas Vaxmonsky, OD

Dr. Thomas Vaxmonsky completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience. He continued his education at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (1988) and advanced education through residency in Pediatrics and Infant vision at SUNY Optometry (1989). While at PCO he attained High Honors with rotations in Pediatrics, Primary Care and Medical Optometry. He moved to Maryland to practice optometry in the College Park area with his practice specializing in contact lenses and medical eye care then later joined MyEyeDr in 2021. He maintains the highest level of Therapeutic Optometric licensing in Maryland. Dr. Vaxmonsky has co-authored in Archives of Ophthalmology and Review of Optometry and spent time volunteering with One Sight providing eye care to underprivileged and special needs children and adults in Prince George's County. Dr. Vaxmonsky lives with his wife Jen and daughter Christianne in Howard County while daughter Payton and son Will are away in college. He enjoys many outdoor activities from ultimate frisbee, running, fishing, bow hunting and mountain biking.

A transformational eyecare experience means providing a high level of care that exceeds all expectations, giving each of my patients the best eye exam they have ever had. How are you impacting your local community? I love being the neighborhood optometrist, taking care of the needs of the families in the community where I live. I love it when I hear kids at a school pickup tell their friends, “That’s my eye doctor!” It doesn’t get much better than that. Hobbies/Interests: I love spending time with my family, doing DIY house projects, playing instruments (hand drums and didgeridoo), and napping.
