About Matthew McCourt, OD
“My fundamental interest in optometry was rooted based on healthcare. That interest grew into a passion for providing patients with optimal visual health with the goal of improving their quality of life. I believe that individualized care, coupled with clear communication, will not only help each patient reach their visual goals but also build a trustworthy doctor-patient relationship. I truly enjoy getting to know each patient I meet and look forward to working with anyone who I see for their next eye exam. Outside of work, I like exploring state and national parks, camping, exercising and playing golf.” Dr. McCourt grew up in rural Alberta, Canada, and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. Following undergrad, he travelled south of the border after being accepted into the Arizona College of Optometry. Dr. McCourt has experience providing high and low complexity exams for patients in several specialty clinics, such as Dry Eye, Myopia Control, Prosthetic Contact Lenses, Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and Post-Operative Care. Dr. McCourt also had the privilege of managing and treating ocular diseases for the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs in northern Florida. Since then, Dr. McCourt has decided to return to Arizona to continue his optometric career.
