Dr. Bruce Mathie received his optometric education at The Ohio State University graduating with a Doctor of Optometry degree. He is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, and serves as a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Mathie practices full scope optometry with a special interest in the treatment and management of ocular disease and glaucoma. Locally, he is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Faternal Order of Eagles and BPO Elks.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I have always found the intricacies of the eyes and vision to be so fascinating. And having two eye surgeries as a child, I was inspired to want to help others with their visual function. My favorite part of helping my patients is: good vision is so crucial to our work and enjoyment in life that I find it a blessing to play a role in providing quality eye care to meet my patients’ needs. In my spare time, I enjoy: Reading, walking, biking, and spending time with family.

Ensuring that every patient knows that their visual needs, health, and wellness are our top priority. How are you impacting your local community? My family and I routinely volunteer and donate to local charitable organizations, like the Brevard Backpack Project and XL106.7's Baby DJ toy drive. Dr. Swartz graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and then with a Doctor of Optometry Degree. She was awarded the Outstanding Clinician award, which is voted on by both her peers and professors & awarded to the top clinician in her graduating class. Dr. Swartz is married to her husband Darrell, an account executive for a large information technology company in Okemos, Michigan. Together, they have three wonderful children, Alexandra, Megan and Jacob. In her free time, Dr. Swartz enjoys coaching sports, traveling, volunteering in her community and enjoying her family.

Dr. Leah Soll graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. She was proud to serve veterans, cadets, and active service members and their families as she provided optometry services as an extern at the Veterans Hospital in Jamaica Plain and at West Point Military Academy. Originally from Clifton Park, New York, Dr. Soll is happy to be living in the Boston area again. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time outdoors.

Professional Achievements and Associations: Texas Optometric Association; American Optometric Association. Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Specializing in Children’s Vision and Contact Lenses. The reason I became an optometrist is: I was in my 3rd year at BYU majoring in Microbiology and my sister married an Optometrist. After seeing how he was able to immediately impact people’s vision and change their lives, I decided that Optometry was the profession for me. My favorite part of helping my patients is: 80% of perception comes from vision. Being able to play a part in helping individuals improve their vision and knowing that will help improve their lives makes me extremely satisfied. On the short side, there is nothing like holding up a new prescription in front of a patient during an eye exam and having them get totally excited about the improvement in their vision. In my spare time, I enjoy: Traveling and Gardening but particularly Grandchildren and Skiing.

Providing transformational eyecare means that you are helping the patients so that the last thing that have to think about is their eyes, they are just able to see the world without having to think about it. How are you impacting your local community? I am impacting my local community by providing the highest level of eye care for all members of my community. Hobbies/Interests: I am a soccer enthusiast. I play the guitar, enjoy working out. I roast and blend my own coffee.

Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Training in Scleral Contact Lens Fitting. The reason I became an optometrist is: I come from a family of Optometrists. We have 3 generations of family in eye care. There have been 7 Poole Optometrists and 1 Poole that is training to be an Ophthalmologist. Having good vision improves every aspect of our lives. I love what I do. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Solving vision problems to help them live better lives. In my spare time, I enjoy: Backpacking, camping, mountain biking, and traveling.

Dr. Feifke earned his first Optometry degree from the Witwatersrand Technicon in Johannesburg, South Africa. After teaching and practicing in South Africa for seven years, he emigrated to the US where he completed the Doctor of Optometry Program at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Feifke believes in giving back and has been actively involved with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity), both as a fundraiser and active participant in numerous missions to Nicaragua, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Feifke is past president of the New England chapter of VOSH. Dr. Feifke is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, as well as a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. In his spare time, Dr. Feifke is passionate about keeping fit and has run seven Boston Marathons. Due to a running injury, he has taken to bike riding and takes part in many biking events in New England and afar. His hobbies include gardening, playing chess with his sons and making that perfect espresso!

The fact that I am able to improve, repair and sometimes save the most critical human sense of sight. How are you helping patients live their best lives? By providing competent, convenient, comfortable, cutting-edge eye care and vision solutions for people of all walks and hobbies. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? It means going above and beyond patient expectations and providing service, healthcare and products they did not know before. How are you impacting your local community? I founded a local program in Klein ISD along with Essilor Vision Foundation to provide free exams and glasses to title 1 school.
