From Lamar, CO and completed undergrad at Colorado State University, Fort Collings, CO. Graduated May 1984 from what was then the Southern California College of Optometry. Joined Don Hood, OD and Steve Glick, OD in Feb 1985 and retired in October 2020 following the sale of Vision Care Specialists, PC to MyEyeDr. Returned to practice on as-needed basis in Feb 2023. I'm surprised and thrilled by the many patients that return to me for their care as my schedule is limited now to 1-2 days per month.

Dr. Maria Gibbons, a native of Dutchess County, New York who grew up in Hyde Park, is a 1996 graduate of the New England College of Optometry (Doctor of Optometry, 1996). Prior to optometry school, Dr. Gibbons earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Holy Cross (1991). Since that time, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that her patients obtain the vision care needed to live healthier, more fulfilling lives. Deeply respected for her unwavering dedication, gentle spirit of compassion, and meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Gibbons has a keen ability to catch, diagnose, and successfully treat eye-related concerns and diseases, actively listening to each patient and responding with highly customized care plans. She works with individuals and families throughout the life cycle, and has an extensive background helping patients with special needs, along with patients who present with a wide range of eye conditions. Dr. Gibbons is a member of the New York State Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She lives in the Village of Rhinebeck; in her free time, Dr. Gibbons loves to read, create, and exercise.

Undergraduate education: The University of California Berkeley, BA in Environmental Science. Optometry School: The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Her externship studies included ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and low vision. “ I take time to explain the results of eye exams, describe patients’ treatment options, and listen to their eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, I encourage patients to ask questions and share their health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing, and treating potential vision problems.” Dr. Gibbs has been practicing in the North Dallas area for the past 24 years. She spends most of her free time with her family as well as reading, exercising, and participating in various forms of civic and community service.

The reason I became an optometrist is: During my neuroscience training, I was most fascinated by vision and always knew I wanted a career working with people and helping to improve their lives, so optometry was a natural choice. My favorite part of helping my patients is: My favorite part of patient care is helping to improve my patients' lives in any way I can. Sometimes that is an update to a prescription to help a patient see better, sometimes it is uncovering and treating a condition of the eyes that is uncomfortable or even vision-threatening, and sometimes it is diagnosing an issue that a patient may not know can be related to the eyes. We have diagnosed and coordinated care for many cases of hypertension, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and even brain tumors here at our office; the eyes really are the window to overall health! In my spare time, I enjoy: I am an avid music collector and love to spend time in record stores and at concerts. I play at local trivia events several times every week and enjoy spending time with my dog.

Dr. Veenu Gill is passionate about helping people see and feel their best. She earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and Psychology at Simmons University in Boston. Her training took her through some of the most respected eye care institutions in the Boston area, including Tufts New England Eye, Joslin Diabetes Center, Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, VA Bedford, and several community health centers. Dr. Gill’s special interests include contact lenses, dry eye care, myopia management, ocular disease, and the important role nutrition plays in overall eye health. She loves taking the time to get to know her patients, educating them, and creating personalized care plans that fit their unique needs. She believes that health is your true wealth, and feels honored to be a trusted part of her patients’ journey toward better vision and well-being. Fluent in Punjabi and Hindi, and conversational in Spanish and Portuguese, Dr. Gill enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds. Outside the office, she loves traveling, practicing yoga and meditation, and spending time with her husband, two kids, and close friends.

Dr. Nora Gindi is the founder and lead optometrist at Healing Eye Care, where she has built a reputation for her expertise in neuro-optometry and her commitment to providing comprehensive eye care. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Gindi has dedicated her career to addressing complex eye conditions, offering specialized services including vision therapy, low vision management, and advanced treatment for ocular diseases. Her patient-centered approach and attention to detail have made her a trusted eye care provider in the Clearwater, FL community. She earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry from York College, followed by her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. After completing her doctorate, Dr. Gindi pursued postgraduate studies in vision therapy, low vision, and specialty contact lenses. She is a board-certified optometric physician and holds professional affiliations with the Pinellas Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. Dr. Gindi is known for her warm and compassionate personality, which resonates with her patients and colleagues alike. She is deeply committed to patient education, believing informed patients are empowered to make the best decisions for their eye health. Outside of her practice, Dr. Gindi enjoys exercising, playing tennis, and continually expanding her knowledge on medical topics, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

My favorite part of helping my patients is taking the time to know what might best help them in their endeavors. In my spare time, I enjoy platform tennis, gardening, and traveling.

Upon graduation from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biological Science, Dr. Gittins attended Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah Oklahoma. His first few years of practice were at Young Eye Institute in Lawton Oklahoma where he specialized in ocular disease, acute care, and co-management of ocular surgery. This experience led him to American Laser Vision in Fort Worth where he worked exclusively with refractive eye surgery patients. He eventually returned to Oklahoma City to join Clear Sight Center where he continued to specialize in the co-management of refractive surgery patients. While working at Clear Sight Center he had the opportunity to purchase Brixton Opticians which at the time was a small optical. Eventually, he changed the name to Brixton Eye Clinic where he now practices full-time. What Dr. Gittins enjoys most about practicing optometry is finding ocular signs of life-threatening systemic conditions before they become more serious. He also enjoys visiting with patients about their day and getting to know them. Dr. Gittins is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, a member or the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP), and a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA). He is also active on the legislative committee of the OAOP.

I was experiencing a certain level of misery! My father's optometrist agreed to meet us at his office on a Sunday evening. After examining me on some cool equipment and putting in a couple drops, he everted my lid and removed a piece of sawdust. There was immediate relief from misery! I have never forgotten his kindness nor the resulting satisfaction! I looked into the profession and never looked back. My favorite part of helping my patients is the fact that they leave here with a problem solved after a pleasant experience. In my spare time, I enjoy my Son and his soccer, surfing, fishing, the outdoors, animals, birds, trees, cooking, and sports.

The reason I became an optometrist is: the inspiration from my wonderful mentor and personal optometrist Dr. Robert Davis, however I was fascinated by how vision/learning and the impact on daily living could be altered in a life changing way. It wasn't until 2nd year in college that I truly knew I wanted to enter this field. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Solving not only the problems they came in with - but being able to provide help in ways they never knew. Sometimes we are the only health care provider they see - and being able to provide resources for their overall wellbeing is rewarding. For example, maybe it is just listening to them, maybe it is helping their family understand what they are going through visually - all these things and more are truly helping patients live their best lives, and I want to be that difference for them! In my spare time, I enjoy: working out as much as I can, yoga, cycling, running, reading, traveling to new places and lots of dog walks. Spending every moment watching my son do life and celebrating all the family time I get is my icing on the cake!

Dr. Darryl Glover partners with local organization and leaders to help provide eyecare to underserved communities. Hobbies/Interests: Dr. Glover loves to spend time with his family and friends, eat delicious food, and travel to new places. Dr. Darryl Glover is an innovative optometrist, global speaker, key opinion leader, diversity champion, consultant, and podcast host. He has served the optometric community for over 20 years and has held every position in the profession. Dr. Glover sees patients at our Brier Creek location in Raleigh, North Carolina, and serves as the Professionals Services Special Projects Liaison.

Dr. Godfrey has been an Optometrist since 1981, earning a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University. He has been a member of the Sertoma Club of East Indianapolis since 1984. He enjoys reading, IU Rugby and Formula 1 racing.
