Hobbies/Interests: I love to watch football and cheer on the Cowboys and the Crimson Tide with my son Cullen, I love to go to the movies with my daughter Sara Jane, and love traveling with my wife Erin. One of my favorites is to watch Cullen do what he loves, which is to compete on the basketball court.

Mary Shatleh, OD

About Mary Shatleh, OD

Dr. Shatleh graduated from the University of Houston Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Medicine & Society. She went on to receive her Doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she received several letters of excellence during her clinical rotations. She was trained with a focus on ocular disease, glaucoma, dry eye, and surgical co-management. Dr. Shatleh has special interests in fitting multifocal contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management (LASIK, PRK, and multifocal cataract lens replacement), and providing essential eye care for children. She also routinely diagnoses and manages acute and chronic eye diseases, including ocular trauma, infection, and retinal disease. Dr. Shatleh was raised in Pearland and graduated from Pearland High School. She loves practicing in the community she grew up in and is proud to be taking care of many people she’s crossed paths with growing up here. When she’s not at the office, she spends her free time with her husband and two young daughters. She enjoys reading and cooking and stays active in her church community.

Professional Achievements and Associations: Dr. Shields has provided care to his patients in multiple settings before joining MyEyeDr in 2009. He was a Vision Care partner for Walmart Vision Centers in four locations, winning District Doctor of the Year. Additionally, Dr. Shields has worked in private practice, having opened his own practice in 2006 in Annapolis, MD, winning The Capital Gazette’s Top Doctor award. The reason I became an optometrist is: I am passionate about patients and helping them develop solutions that will ultimately enable them to lead better lives. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I enjoy learning about my patient’s visual demands and tailoring custom solutions that help improve their lives. In my spare time, I enjoy: He is passionate about his wife, four children and his St. Bernard and spends most of his free time with his family surfing off his boat on the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. Dr. Terry P. Silke received his doctorate of optometry degree from Indiana School of Optometry in 1969. He served two years of active duty in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam from 1970-1971 at an evacuation hospital. Upon completing his active duty tour, he continued to serve in the army reserve until retiring in 1996 as a LT Colonel. In 1972, Dr. Silke spent one year as a clinical associate instructor at the IU School of Optometry. He then received a 25 year recognition certificate from The American Optometric Association.
