Our Doctors

Dr. Schultz grew up in Coppell, Texas and earned a Bachelor’s degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated in 2019 with Summa Cum Laude honors. During her education, Dr. Schultz received several awards from her peers and faculty. She received the Excellence in Medical Optometry Award and was selected for membership into the Gold Key Optometric Society for being an outstanding student leader in the Student Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Schultz is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist who has special interests in primary vision care, contact lenses, ocular disease, and myopia control. During her clinical rotations, she trained extensively in the art of specialty contact lens evaluations, including scleral lenses and multifocal soft contact lenses. She pursued extra training in the management of pre/post-operative cataract surgery patients and those with ocular diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Schultz is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, and Gold Key Optometric Society. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her husband Chris. Her hobbies include fitness, traveling, tennis, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and reading.

I love connecting with people and educating them about their ocular health. I strive to give incredibly thorough eye care. How are you helping patients live their best lives? I carefully evaluate potential problem areas in patients' eyes and develop a care plan that is catered to them individually. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? I love hearing patients tell me that they've never had such a thorough exam! I take the extra time to carefully educate patient How are you impacting your local community? I volunteer in our local elementary school and at our church. Hobbies/Interests: Being a mom to our three delightful little girls, hiking and camping, making music, reading (when I find time!)

How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? By providing comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, diabetic eye exams, contact lens fitting, binocular visual dysfunctions, and ocular disease management. Hobbies/Interests: working out, traveling with my husband (especially to the beach).

Dr. Anthony Seymour grew up in Augusta , Maine and and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in zoology in 1982. He attended The New England College of Optometry and graduated in 1986.

The reason I became an optometrist is: because I'm near-sighted myself, so from an early age I knew the importance of having my eyes checked regularly. My favorite part of helping my patients is: using my skills and knowledge to explain how their eyes are doing vision and health wise in a way that is easy for them to understand :) In my spare time, I enjoy: Spending time with my husband and my husky, Czar. I also enjoy traveling and finding the best pizza spots!

Ensuring that my patients succeed and enjoy all that life has to offer by equipping them with clear vision and healthy eyes. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? Ensuring the happiness and satisfaction of all patients. How are you impacting your local community? By educating our patients on eye health - sun protection, harmful blue light, etc. , we help create a smarter community! Hobbies/Interests: Anything outdoors! Fitness, traveling, baking/cooking, gardening, reading autobiographies!

Undergraduate Education: Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. Optometry School: Illinois College of Optometry, 2009. Professional Achievements and Associations: Indiana Optometric Association, American Optometric Association. Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Primary care, dry eye treatment, computer vision syndrome. The reason I became an optometrist is: I was interested in healthcare from a young age as I knew I wanted to be in a field that makes an impact and difference on others. I was fortunate enough to not need any vision correction while growing up but had many family members who either wore glasses or suffered from eye conditions (Glaucoma, etc.). I came to realize that the field of optometry is so fascinating in that I would get to care for not only patients' vision needs (glasses and contacts), but also help with their healthcare needs. I am lucky to work in a field with ever changing technology that allows me to provide this comprehensive care to patients each day. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I am fortunate to work in the area I grew up (graduated from Franklin Central High School), so it's been a humbling experience to impact the community I know and love. Forming trusting relationships with my patients and their families by helping them see and feel better is so rewarding each day. In my spare time, I enjoy: Traveling, live theater, playing tennis, Cubs baseball, shoe shopping, and exploring parks and museums with my husband and kids (Keenan and Nahla). I also love a good book, a cup of coffee, and binge-watching Netflix!

Undergraduate Education: University of Wisconsin – Madison. Optometry School: InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Optometry. Certifications/Awards: Ocular Disease Residency training at Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates in Havre de Grace, Maryland. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? I am in such a rewarding career, and I want to ensure every patient gets the best outcome for both their visual and ocular health. Hobbies/Interests: traveling, photography, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Shanko grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.S. in biology. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry to pursue her doctorate in Optometry. She is currently doing her one-year residency at the San Antonio Veteran's Association, specializing in ocular disease and brain injury rehabilitation, while simultaneously working at MyEyeDr part-time. Dr. Shanko enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time, traveling, and doing outdoor activities.

Specializing in hard to fit contact lens cases, keratoconus, and dry eyes. Hobbies/Interests: Wine, travel, fitness and family…not always in that order!

Dr. Alyssa Shema has enjoyed serving her local community by providing comprehensive eye care services to patients of all ages for over 5 years. Dr. Shema’s professional interests include myopia management, pediatric eye care, and treatment of glaucoma and other eye diseases. She is also a dedicated member of the Northern Virginia Optometric Society (NVOS) and Virginia Optometric Association (VOA). Her hobbies and interests include cooking, yoga, and spending time with her family

Undergraduate Education: Whittier College BA Biology 1997; PCO BS Vision Science 1998; PCO Doctor of Optometry 2001. Optometry School: He is a 2001 graduate of Salus University (formerly the Pennsylvania College of Optometry). Professional Achievements and Associations: Dr. Shields has provided care to his patients in multiple settings before joining MyEyeDr in 2009. He was a Vision Care partner for Walmart Vision Centers in four locations, winning District Doctor of the Year. Additionally, Dr. Shields has worked in private practice, having opened his own practice in 2006 in Annapolis, MD, winning The Capital Gazette’s Top Doctor award. The reason I became an optometrist is: I am passionate about patients and helping them develop solutions that will ultimately enable them to lead better lives. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I enjoy learning about my patient’s visual demands and tailoring custom solutions that help improve their lives. In my spare time, I enjoy: He is passionate about his wife, four children and his St. Bernard and spends most of his free time with his family surfing off his boat on the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. Annapolis Junior Rowing is another cause which he has passionately devoted his time as Vice President as well as overseeing his children’s rowing careers. He and his family are long time Annapolitans, and members of the St. Mary’s Catholic parish.
