The reason I became an optometrist is: Since childhood, I always wanted to pursue a medical profession, and desired a setting where I could still prioritize raising a family. A family history of poor eyesight led me to pursue the eyes and vision as a particular field of study. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Giving them the knowledge and tools necessary to maximize vision and eye health so that they can succeed in daily life. In my spare time, I enjoy: Reading and spending time with my wife and kids and serving at my church.

I looked up and respected him and thought this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. To be able to help people see clearer and function better in this world is very fulfilling. In my spare time, I enjoy Crossfit, golf, and being with my wife! My favorite part of helping my patients is to be able to function better in their day to day activities.

Experience: Began East Texas Vision Center in the Westwood Shopping Center (1984 – January 2024). Dr. McGough and Dr. Douglas acquired TSO of Tyler (2000 – present). Accreditations: Therapeutic Optometrists experienced in the direct care of visual assessment, contact lens fitting, eye trauma, eye disease, and surgical procedures such as cataracts and LASIK. I am helping my patients live their best lives by helping them understand any existing chronic ocular conditions and providing examinations in children and adults for the use of glasses and/or contact lenses. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? I provide routine eye care and ocular disease care to patients in my hometown. I make sure to thoroughly explain all necessary information while also connecting with my patients, so they feel comfortable. I hope that in helping my patients understand their ocular health they may go forward to understand their overall systemic health. Hobbies/interests: Cooking, working out, and playing with my dog.

Vision is our most important sense, and I love being able to play a part in helping my patients have the best vision possible to ensure their highest quality of life. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? Dr. Mearsha has a special interest in Orthokeratology (OrthoK), which is the science of reshaping the cornea of the eye, without surgery, to improve vision and virtually eliminate the need for daytime contact lenses and glasses. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (IAOMC), actively practices Myopia Control and specializes in difficult-to-fit contact lenses including Scleral and Gas permeable. Dr. Mearsha has a strong interest in developmental optometry and determining how using vision therapy can improve classroom performance for students, as well as increase performance for athletes in a variety of sports. As a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and American Optometric Associations Sports Vision Section he can stay on the leading edge of new and exciting advances in Vision Therapy. Hobbies/Interests: Dr. Mearsha resides in Greeley, and in his spare time he enjoys bicycling, golfing, reading, home projects and family activities with his wife, Susie, and their three wonderful children.

Making sure patients can see their loved ones making their first basketball shot, or first dance recital, or graduating school. How are you helping patients live their best lives? Providing quality vision with glasses and contacts, but also making sure their eye health is at optimal functionality. Hobbies/Interests: Working out, basketball, golf, football, soccer, playing with my dog Tessa, beach days, hiking, aquarist, huge movie and tv nerd.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I have always enjoyed helping people. Being an Optometrist allows me to provide patients with their visual needs and therefore help them do the things they enjoy. This can re-open their world of possibilities and create new adventures. Optometry is also a very social profession that allows me to interact with and learn about so many different people every day which is something I really love. My favorite part of helping my patients is: This is one of the few medical professions that for most of the time, allow us to improve our patients’ lives immediately by giving them the vision correct they need which is very fulfilling. In my spare time, I enjoy: Traveling, hiking, cooking, and serving at my church.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I wanted to help people in my community. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Helping them see their best to enjoy their lives to the fullest, and better understand their eye health and vision status. In my spare time, I enjoy: Spending time with my family and fixing up my house.

Originally from Paducah, KY. Attended the University of Kentucky, graduated with Honors and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry. Obtained Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry, where I was the President of the Kentucky Club, Treasurer of the Ocular Disease Club, and member of the Contact Lens Society. I enjoy spending time with my family, going on walks, and reading a good book!
