Our Doctors

Dr. Johnson attended college at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and graduated summa cum laude with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Mathematics. Dr. Johnson completed her optometric education at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where she was recognized for excellence in Low Vision services. Dr. Johnson has been practicing optometry for seventeen years and in 2015 was recognized by the American Optometric Association's Vision USA program for Outstanding Service to her community. When she's not taking care of her patients' ocular health, Dr. Johnson enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling. She is an avid birder and loves to be outdoors.

Undergraduate Education: Swarthmore College – Chemistry; graduated 1998. Optometry School: Pennsylvania College of Optometry 2020. The reason I became an optometrist is: Always fascinated with the equipment at the eye doctor growing up. My favorite part of helping my patients is: giving them the best vision possible to they can live their best lives. In my spare time, I enjoy: Running in the parks; splaying sports with my kids.

I grew up in Sunny Miami, Florida. I have always wanted to become an eye doctor (optometrist). This was due to an eye condition I have; I was diagnosed with Diplopia (double vision). My Family Optometrist made this diagnosis. I was amazed and impressed that my condition could be fixed with prism lenses “immediately”. I went from barely passing in school to straight A’s after my eyeglasses were ready. I went to undergraduate College at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte, North Carolina. I went to Pfeiffer University on an academic and wrestling scholarship. I graduated with honors, Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology/Pre-Optometry in 1977. Then, I applied to and got accepted to Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee In 1979. I graduated with honors with the Doctor of Optometry degree (OD) in 1983. I was presented with the prestigious Feinbloom Low Vision Award at Graduation. Externships include General Practice & Clinical Practice at the Memphis Health Center, a Multidisciplinary Clinic. I had a successful Private Practice combined with a Nursing Home practice in South Florida for 42 years. I was also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in Davie, Florida, from 1995 to 2001. I am a Member of the AOA and the South Carolina Optometric Association. I was appointed chairman of the Florida Optometric Association Nursing Home and Hospital practice committee from 1989 through 1991. I was also the President of the Florida Optometric Association from 1991 to 1992. In December 2023, I decided to sell my private practice of Optometry in South Florida and move to Waxhaw, North Carolina, where my pregnant daughter and son-in-law reside. I decided to semi-retire and chose to work part-time at MyEyeDr. In my spare time, I like to travel, be with family, grandchildren, friends, garden, watch sports, drive sports cars, visit restaurants, go to plays, and watch movies.

Dr. Julia Jose completed her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Florida. Her Optometry degree was completed in Nova Southeastern University, where she also earned a second bachelor’s degree in Vision Sciences. She completed specialty training in diabetic eye exams and ocular disease. Dr. Jose always had a passion for this field, but her passion grew further after she went on a mission trip to Nicaragua during the end of her second year of optometry school. During this eye-opening trip, she helped provide eye care to over 1,000 underserved people of Nicaragua. Dr. Jose is compassionate with her patients, thorough, and most of all personable, which is the biggest compliment she gets. She treats everyone on her chair like they are her friend or family. Dr. Jose moved to Dallas, TX from sunny Florida at the beginning of 2022 after getting married to her husband who is a Dallas native. In her spare time, Dr. Jose likes to spend time with her family and friends, travel, and find new things to do in Dallas.

Dr. Ning-Ju Juang grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and went the University of Michigan for undergraduate school. She decided to venture out west and pursue her passion for optometry at the University of California, Berkeley. After living in Chicago and New York, the pull of her hometown brought her back to Ann Arbor where she now resides with her family. Here interests include cooking, playing the violin, hiking, and traveling the world.

Dr. Angelica Juarez was born and raised in Galveston, Texas and attended the University of Houston where she received a Bachelors Degree in Biology. Dr. Juarez then graduated from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. She is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma specialist. Passionate about eye care and committed to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Juarez is dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships with patients, taking time to listen to their concerns and offer personalized care. Outside of work, Dr. Juarez enjoys spending time outdoors, watching sports and reading.

Undergraduate Education: The College of Wooster and Cleveland State University; Optometry School: Illinois College of Optometry; Professional Achievements/Associations: I've previously served patients in several Ohio locations as well as in the Richmond, VA area. Clinical Certifications & Specialties: My particular areas of interest are primary care optometry and dry eye. What drives your passion for optometry? I'm excited that I can make a difference in people's' lives. How are you helping patients live their best lives? I strive to address their eye health needs and to help them see as well as possible. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? Ensuring the happiness and satisfaction of all patients. How are you impacting your local community? I recently moved back to my hometown of Cleveland and am looking forward to getting involved in the local community. Hobbies/Interests: Travel, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Marlene Jurman is a graduate of the State University of New York College of Optometry. She completed her residency training at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Jurman is an Associate Clinical Professor at the SUNY College of Optometry. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is also a member of the New York State Optometric Association.

Undergraduate Education: Virginia Commonwealth University. Optometry School: Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. Certification/Awards: Misight Myopia Management Certification, Eyes on Eyecare Social Media Ambassador, Avenova Eyecare Social Media Ambassador. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? Dr. Kabiri strives to provide exceptional comprehensive eye care to all patients ranging from children to geriatric adults. Dr. Kabiri specializes in dry eye therapy, myopia management, and contact lens exams. Dr. Kabiri is passionate about giving back to the community and is proud to be part of organizations including Lions Club International, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, and Global Medical Training. Hobbies/Interests: Outside of taking care of her patients, Dr. Kabiri enjoys staying active by going to the gym, hiking, and playing in an adult league soccer club. Some of her favorite hobbies include reading, listening to educational podcasts, and sharing eyecare health/tips through her social media Instagram.

Professional Achievements and Associations: I am a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. I became an optometrist because I grew up with the experience of needing glasses and contacts at a young age. It sparked my curiosity about the human eye and the science behind best vision correction. Through my many years of schooling and clinical experiences, I recognized that being an optometrist wasn't just about diagnosing refractive errors or prescribing lenses; it was about building meaningful relationships with patients, understanding their unique needs, and helping them live their best lives with clear vision. Each patient encounter enforces the life-changing impact optometry has on all individuals. Hobbies/Interests: In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, watching the Green Bay Packers, and walking my puppy, Rudy.

By providing comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, diabetic eye exams, contact lens fitting, binocular visual dysfunctions, and ocular disease management. Hobbies/Interests: Cycling, running, family, craft beer.

Undergraduate Education: Ferris State University. Optometry School: Michigan College of Optometry. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? I chose this profession to provide individuals with comprehensive eye care to enhance their quality of life. Hobbies/Interests: In my personal time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time with my family.

Undergraduate Education: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Optometry School: Nova Southeastern University. What drives your passion for optometry? Helping patients get what they visually need. How are you helping patients live their best lives? I am helping our kids function to their potential with their busy electronic educational demands, which helps families understand the various visual needs. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? Not only are the basic needs of seeing adequately important but understanding how vision and its devices can affect some peoples' overall development, or a simple change in a pair of glasses can make you feel better, can give a unique eyecare experience. How are you impacting your local community? I enjoy teaching my patients overall basic eye health and anatomy and how it pertains to their unique situation, which can promote better hygiene overall. Hobbies/Interests: Hobbies are volunteering, spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and whatever interests my children are into at the time, which is currently Taekwondo, and spending time at the beach.
