Undergraduate Education: Bachelor’s in biology from Heidelberg University. Optometry School: The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Hobbies/Interests: Playing tuba in the Monroe County Community College Band and the Deutchmeister German Band.

Dr. Charles Hollander graduated with honors in 1980 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. . He is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is certified by the New York State Optometric Association to provide low vision services. Dr. Hollander is licensed in the therapeutic treatment of glaucoma, external eye diseases, and oral therapeutic medications in the State of New York. Dr. Hollander held the title for 15 years as an associate and clinical instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical School. He has devoted his career to working with children and adults who are visually impaired and difficult and unusual contact lens cases. He was an adjunct professor at Columbia University Teachers College where he instructed teachers who were receiving their master’s degree in teaching children who are visually impaired. Currently he is the Optometric consultant at the New York Institute for Special Education He has lectured extensively in low vision rehabilitation and co-authored a chapter in the textbook “The Essentials of Low Vision Care”. He currently resides in New York City with his wife of 44 years. He has 3 children and loves to spend time with his grandchildren.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I became an optometrist because the eye was the most fascinating organ of our body. I am a transplant from Kentucky. I have been practicing in the New Orleans area for 40 years. I am single and have two small dogs. I like crafts, walking, taking care of my community cats, watching old movies and volunteering for activities at my church.

Dr. Matthiew Hoogland (Dr. Matt) is a board-certified optometrist specializing in primary care and ocular disease management. Hailing from northwest Iowa, he earned his BS in Biology from Dordt University (2009) and optometry degree from Pacific University (2017), followed by a year-long ocular disease residency in Oklahoma. Now calling North Carolina home, Dr. Matt is proud to be part of the American and North Carolina Optometric Associations. Dr. Matt is passionate about patient care and in his free time enjoys pickleball, hiking, and playing piano for his local church.

My favorite part of helping my patients is: Giving patients the best comfortable vision and visiting. In my spare time, I enjoy: Grandkids rock! Dr. Houtkin is originally from New Jersey and completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University in Philadelphia. He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and went to San Antonio to fulfill a commitment with the Air Force. He is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association and is Board Certified with the American Board of Clinical Optometry. Dr. Houtkin is married to Deborah and they have four children and five grandchildren. He enjoys family gatherings, gardening and working with native Xeriscape plants. He has played accordion and trumpet from a very young age. Having spent over thirty years living in San Antonio, Dr. and Mrs. Houtkin are excited to be living here with the wonderful people of College Station. He is looking forward to many years of caring for their vision in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Dr. Andy received his undergraduate degree with honors from Virginia Tech. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, also with honors. His optometric career has included collaborating with some of the best optometrists in the nation, teaching, speaking at conferences, and blogging. He has spent most of his 25-plus year career helping thousands of patients live a healthy visual lifestyle. With the help of his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Howard, their clinic was named one of America’s Finest Optical Retailers by INVISION Magazine. The clinic also placed in Review of Optometry’s Office Design Contest. Dr. Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children, Rachel and Joseph. He enjoys fitness, the outdoors, and creative pursuits such as artistry and writing.

Graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in biology from the University of Maryland in 1982 (Phi Beta Kappa in 1980). Graduated from the University of Houston Optometry School in 1987 (O.D. degree) and won three individual awards: Outstanding Fourth Year Clinician Silor Optical Award of Excellence Outstanding Pediatric Clinician I have been a full time optometrist since 1987 and love working daily with all types of patients. I was voted "Best Optometrist" in the Maryland Gazette several times. I have worked as an adjunct professor for the University of Houston Optometry School (training fourth year optometry students). My hobbies include: Pickleball, tennis, and gym workouts.

I’m Yuchi Hsu, an optometrist with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (graduated in 2024). I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I developed a deep interest in vision care and patient relationships. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and a proud holder of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry certification, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care. My favorite part of being an optometrist is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with my patients—each interaction teaches me something new and allows me to grow both personally and professionally. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors, trying new things, and experimenting in the kitchen. I believe in the power of continuous learning and look forward to what each day brings.

Dr. Blake Hughes is a dedicated optometrist practicing at MyEyeDr. in Hurst, Texas. With a deep passion for patient care and a love for the challenging environment of the medical field, Dr. Hughes chose optometry to fulfill his desire to help people and make a difference in their lives. He recognizes the precious gift of sight and takes pride in assisting his patients achieve optimal vision. Dr. Hughes feels immensely blessed to be able to pursue his passion while also prioritizing quality time with his family. Dr. Hughes obtained his Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston, Texas, in 2006. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at Abilene Christian University in 2002. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Texas Optometric Association (TOA). Dr. Hughes’ exceptional patient care earned him multiple Clinical Letters of Excellence, and he was honored with the prestigious Gold Key Award for outstanding leadership. When he's not practicing optometry, Dr. Hughes cherishes the moments spent with his wife and their five children. He enjoys playing golf, traveling, cheering for the Texas Rangers baseball team, and attending church. Dr. Hughes considers it a great honor to serve the community where he grew up. His expertise ranges from the treatment and management of eye diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, to sports vision exams.
