Professional Achievements and Associations: Residency Training (Primary Care Specialty) at Indiana University School of Optometry - 2016 Completion Date; Indiana Optometric Association; American Optometric Association. Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Primary Care Residency Training; National Board of Examiners in Optometry Certification (2015); Injection Certification (2015). The reason I became an optometrist is: During my neuroscience training, I was most fascinated by vision and always knew I wanted a career working with people and helping to improve their lives, so optometry was a natural choice. My favorite part of helping my patients is: My favorite part of patient care is helping to improve my patients' lives in any way I can. Sometimes that is an update to a prescription to help a patient see better, sometimes it is uncovering and treating a condition of the eyes that is uncomfortable or even vision-threatening, and sometimes it is diagnosing an issue that a patient may not know can be related to the eyes. We have diagnosed and coordinated care for many cases of hypertension, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and even brain tumors here at our office; the eyes really are the window to overall health! In my spare time, I enjoy: I am an avid music collector and love to spend time in record stores and at concerts. I play at local trivia events several times every week and enjoy spending time with my dog.
